“Drug Robbery Leads to Gruesome Machete Attack”

On March 9, 2013, Charles Weber was found bludgeoned to death in his southwest Portland apartment. Four men conspired to rob Weber of his drugs and money. The robbery leads to a machete attack and a gruesome murder scene. A complex investigation and prosecution resulted in the arrest of all four suspects.


 

"Norteño vs. Soreño, Gang Murder in Forest Grove"

O On November 14, 2011, a Norteño gang member set out to kill a rival gang member. The motive was “revenge” and to defend the honor of one of his “homiez.” At the end of the day, Soreño gang member Luis Guzman was shot to death at his residence in Forest Grove. 

 

"Stabbed in Alton Baker Park"

On May 4, 2016, Alexander Davenport was found at Alton Baker Park with life threatening stab wounds. While sleeping in the park he was assaulted. The investigation led to the identification of 3 suspects, one of whom was charged for rape of a 16-year-old after injecting her with meth.

 

"Suspicious Death Leads to a One-Punch Homicide"

On October 12, 2014, Cougar Burleigh was found unconscious across from the Portland Rescue Mission, a shelter for homeless. There were no obvious indications of violence. Burleigh died the next day, and an autopsy showed injuries consistent with a fall. A diligent homicide investigator uncovered the true facts. Cougar Burleigh was a victim of a one-punch homicide.

 

“Familial DNA Helps Solve Attempted Murder/Sexual Assault”

On December 14, 2012, a 78-year-old woman was attacked in her Ontario home. The suspect entered the home then sexually assaulted, strangled and smothered the victim. Left to die, the victim later woke and was able to call 911. This could be one of Oregon’s first cases utilizing familial DNA, linking the suspect to the attempted murder and sexual assault of the victim.

“Tragedy in Roseburg"

On October 1, 2015 on the Umpqua Community College Campus, a 26-year-old male opened fire in a rampage that left 10 dead and seven injured. He targeted “Christians,” he targeted students and staff, and he targeted “humanity.” The investigative and prosecution team will discuss the details of this tragedy that shocked the City of Roseburg.

 

“Death of a 2-year old, An Innocent Life

On December 20, 2014, 2-year-old Evangelina Wing was found unresponsive in a Seaside apartment. Evangelina died from blunt force trauma at the hands of her mother’s boyfriend. Her mother, Dorothy Wing, was also charged with Manslaughter. She did nothing to protect Evangelina or her siblings from being tortured, burned, bitten and caged.

 

“Murder Under the Bridge”

On May 22, 2017, the burned body of Marcos Gutierrez-Rodriguez was discovered under the Eastside Road Bridge near Milton-Freewater. GutierrezRodriguez was lured there by an individual who strangled and stabbed him. That same person attempted to conceal the murder by burning the body.
